Martindale Brightwood CDC
Martindale Brightwood Community Development Corporation (MBCDC) is a 501(c)(3) organization established in 1992 to address the needs of residents in the area’s most distressed neighborhoods. Located just northeast of downtown Indianapolis, Martindale-Brightwood remains a resilient and culturally rich community home to nationally recognized educators, public leaders, activists, musicians, and entrepreneurs despite decades of disinvestment and displacement.
For more than 30 years, MBCDC has built strong partnerships to support holistic community growth through housing and workforce development. We address critical housing needs by providing home repairs and collaborating with real estate partners to secure safe, affordable housing. Our Individual Development Account (IDA) program helps low- to moderate-income residents achieve financial goals through matched savings and financial education.
MBCDC also operates the only mobile YES program in Indiana, bringing job readiness training, paid workforce experience, and barrier removal services directly to youth ages 16–24. Additionally, our small business resources support local entrepreneurs in starting and growing successful businesses.
We remain committed to leadership, community engagement, and advocacy that empower Martindale-Brightwood residents to connect with one another and work collectively toward a stronger, thriving neighborhood.
