Indiana Subcontractors Association

Indiana Subcontractors Association, Inc. (ISA)

Established in 1968, the Indiana Subcontractors Association (ISA) originally served as a chapter of the American Subcontractors Association (ASA), focused on improving the business environment for trade contractors in the construction industry. ISA supported members through government advocacy, addressing issues like insurance, retainage, and contract language, while providing educational opportunities.

In 2002, ISA disaffiliated from ASA due to declining membership and funding challenges. With just 15 members and $5,000 in the bank, the organization’s leadership began rebuilding and rebranding ISA. The focus shifted to fostering relationships across all sectors of the construction industry, promoting the interests of Indiana trade subcontractors, and encouraging productive dialogue rather than conflict with general contractors or legislative pressures.

This approach has driven consistent growth. Over the past decade, ISA has become a leading organization in the Indiana construction industry, with a strong and engaged membership dedicated to collaboration, advocacy, and professional development.
